Bike Thefts, Nook Heist and Shattered Glass

In this week's roundup of police activities, thefts of unsecured property continue.

Tuesday, Dec. 6

7:26 a.m. – A resident of Gomez Way reported that his brown Specialized mountain bike was stolen from an indoor stairwell sometime overnight. The bike lock was cut. The bike was valued at $700.

8:14 a.m. – Some reportedly entered the unlocked car of a resident of Melody Lane and stole a pair of glasses. The car owner said similar incidents have happened multiple times and other neighbors in the area have reported similar incidents.

10:06 a.m. – A Tam High school employee was accused of stealing a bicycle from campus at 5 a.m. the previous day, and the victim claimed to have video of the incident. An officer went to the school to file a report on the alleged theft and pick up a copy of the video. Police are investigating.

11:55 a.m. – A resident of Aldridge Ave. reported that his unlocked vehicle was entered overnight and a CD player and iPod were stolen.

3:39 p.m. – A man recently released from jail went to his parents home on Marsh Drive and smashed a window in the kitchen, police said. The man had been drinking but cooperated with police when they arrived at the scene. 

6:54 p.m. – A $700 bicycle was reported stolen from in front of a home on Millay Place. The bike was a black and dark green Specialized Rockhopper, and it was left unlocked.

Wednesday, Dec. 7

12:16 p.m. – A resident of Blithedale Terrace reported that a multiple mountain bikes, a road bike and surfboard were stolen from an unlocked, detached shed at the residence. 

Thursday, Dec. 8

1:23 p.m. – A resident complained that an unoccupied police car with a speed limit sign attached to it was parked in a red zone on East Blithedale and Mesa avenues and making it difficult for traffic to get around it.

2:45 p.m. – A resident of Ethel Drive reported that the catalytic converter and muffler were stolen from her car, items whose value were estimated at more than $1,000. 

4:16 p.m. – Three boxes of drinking glasses fell out of the back of a catering truck at Molino and Montford avenues, shattering the glass all over the roadway. The caterer was cleaning up the debris. 

Friday, Dec. 9

3:44 p.m. – A resident of Ryan Avenue reported placing his Nook e-reader onto the trunk of his car, going back inside the retrieve something else and coming back to find the Nook gone. The e-reader was in a brown leather case and values at $150. 

3:44 p.m. – A resident reported that a dark gray Hyundai was blaring music on Lovell Avenue for 45 minutes.

4:44 p.m. – Someone called police to report that a small black car and a motorcycle were racing in the area of Park and Walnut avenues. Police checked the area but were unable to find any cars racing.

6:12 p.m. – A backpack containing an iPhone was reported stolen from a Tam High locker, with a value of $800 including the iPhone.

8:53 p.m. – A resident of Longfellow Road reported that someone broke into her home and she found documents related to her divorce scattered all over the floor.

Friday, Dec. 10

12:12 a.m. – A resident of Bayview Avenue reported that a silver SUV with unknown license plates hit his parked car, a 1991 Honda Civic, and damaging the car’s side panel, mirrors and headlights.

1:32 a.m. – Two juveniles males reportedly spray-painted a bench and cement table at the 7-Eleven on Miller Avenue.
