A number of reading rooms accommodated the town's early population, but the library really got off the ground in July 1911 on the back of a $10,000 grant from the Carnegie Foundation. The library was first located at the corner of Lovell Avenue and Madrona Street, with about 750 donated books.</p> <p>City Librarian Anji Brenner and her team of reference librarians and volunteers oversee a collection of more than 132,000 books and an ever-growing catalog of digital content.</p>
