Well I think the county assessor try's to stay below the actual numbers to avoid being deluged byRead More homeowners refuting his claims. You can check Zillow and Radfin website for a check on which way and how much. The "actual" value of you home will not be known until you decide to sell it. The estimated value is based on comps near you. Very difficult for the county to hoodwink you--they do that better at the voting polls--like in how many parcel tax's are you paying and what is your sales tax---you and your fellow citizen voted those in--because you were hoodwinked--and there is more to come in Novato--watch for an extension of measure "F" sales tax to become semi permanent---! It seems all a politician has to do is say Fire/Police/School and the voters role over and say --charge me--I love it!

taxation without representation at its best. And our infrastructure is still crumbling. Note that this law would NOT have stopped the Isla Vista shooting because the parents did NOT callRead More the local mental health agency as well as the police. Note that by failing to check the California gun registry - available in every patrol car - they would not have even considered issuing such an order because they didn't think there were any firearms in the area - and neither did his parents, apparently. nobody seems to care do they? Why bother with a few select facts huh? Frankly I don't care what theyRead More put on stamps. What I care about is the financial atrocity being committed on the American taxpayers when it comes to the USPS. The USPS is losing $25MILLION each and every day! Every day! Every day! In 2013 they were happy with only a $5 BILLION loss! WTF is going on. Congress continues to do nothing. They continue to force the USPS to fund the out of control public services benefits. Even the USPS management says "let us go so we can run a profitable company". Who the heck is congress protecting here? Time we all must tell our elected officials (congress) to cut the postal service loose once and for all and let them then succeed or fail as a stand alone business. But instead lets read articles like this that mean absolutely nothing except more government waste and back slapping all on the taxpayers dime. Pitiful.

The other thought I have on water is--how much water is there provided to Novato/Marin/CaliforniaRead More and how much of that water (from rain snow wells etc) actually goes in to the ocean? What percentage of the available water do we use and what percentage makes it to the ocean? Why haven't we provided a plan for increase in storage facilities?--Damns---Reservoirs--man made lakes? Just wondering with all the brilliant minds in government6--why we do not have a plan either locally or Statwide.
Dave Robertson April 28, 2014 at 12:28 pm
Water is a (shortage) problem this year - but it is predicted that next year may bring an excessRead More with El Nino. Either way, the politics in this state are unreal - and water need not be one of them. After 32 years of living here, I can honestly say that Californians waste more water than people in other states. And no, I am not talking about the "flush the toilet" kind or the "shower" kind. The only thing that I see in this order that makes no sense is to scale back outside watering to twice a week. Many homeowners tend to "switch around" areas - watering the lawn one night, irrigating other areas on other nights. Drip irrigation is most efficient if done slowly. This way also makes it easier to check for leaks (common with all the wildlife who like to eat the tubing). I just hope that this "dry time" is a wake up call for our politicians to create an infrastructure that can sustain many northern California communities (such as Novato) for a longer period. We have done very little up here to manage that, and pale in comparison to the changes that Southern California has done in the past 20 years. Unfortunately that wold mean that our government admit we have an infrastructure problem - and governments don't like to admit mistakes. It would also suggest we put a moratorium on growth until we have the infrastructure to handle the increase in population. But, as typical in California, different groups tend to be obstinate in defending their causes - even if it means moderating the timing of their agenda. The bottom line is that we don't need growth now - we do need an infrastructure that can make us water independent and sufficient. Mother nature doesn't listen to anyone. I guess that here, in the Bay Area, we think we can outwit nature. Not true!
