In March 2012, a group of 11 employees of Stefano's pizzerias in Marin bought 1,200 California Lottery tickets throughout Marin, including the winning ticket worth more than $300K at Jolly King Liquors in Mill Valley.

I had their margaritas at the Kiddo Gala and, frankly, they made my night! Delicious!

Laughing Glass was served at a recent fundraiser I attended for Cool The Earth (a wonderfulRead More locally-based non-profit). The event was held outside in a garden and once I was handed a delicious margarita I felt I had been transported to a tropical locale. Not only is their product stellar but I love that they support local organizations. Best of luck to these inspiring women on their new venture!

Peking Wok was another one I was sorry to see move. Their rent became unbearable from what IRead More understand. It was a nice family owned place with good food and very reasonable prices. They are in TL now and when I'm in the neighborhood I stop in for chow. Mill Valley only has a population of 14k. How many restaurants can that support? Only time will tell. Hopefully the tasty ones will survive.

The Free Markets are very efficient at weeding out the unprofitable, ladies. Which is why MV canRead More support 2 Whole Foods, '47' nail and hair salons, numerous fancy clothing boutiques, banks and real estate offices. But not Hawk's Tavern which i correctly predicted would fail. If us people don't want another burger joint in town we will let the market know w/our wallets. Right now i see Weezy's as a threat to Super Duper, but not a direct competitor to Pearl's, who has downtown to itself, nor INO w/has Strawberry, and Smash which has the other shopping ctr a mile+ away.

How about healthier plant-based eateries rather than more of the same?? The raising of animals forRead More food is not good for our earth, and eating them is not good for our bodies (or theirs for that matter). I am very unhappy about this.
Hannah April 24, 2013 at 02:31 am
Completely agree! More ethnic food!

I meant to compare India Palace (mediocre) to Buckeye Roadhouse (terrific). My bad.
len gensburg April 3, 2013 at 09:23 pm
Just goes to show how bad a source for food Yelp is. How can anyone possibly think India Palace hasRead More better food than India Palace, in my mind one of the worst restaurants in Mill Valley. Prabh is very good, but certainly not the best we have. What happened to Frantoio and Tamalpie? All this shows is how bad Yelp really is.

This is Whole Food's fault? I don't think so. This place served terrible food, terrible service andRead More was not welcoming to 'new' people.

The Independent Yournal covered it. Alpha Beta had been empty for years, Trader Joe's wasRead More interested in the space, a bit large for them but they were working on it. The locals in Mill Valley trew their support behind it. Then Whole Foods grabbed the lease. Lot's of protest and petitions to bring in Traders Joe's. The store sat empty for a few more years, people got angry and protested some more. This was at the same time that Whole Pay Check bought up Wild Oats, another health food store and shut them all down. Look it up

The One Bay Area Plan' subverts local control, foisted on us by ABAG, MTC and local officials/andRead More so-called representatives. Fairax is at gridlock several times/day, yet we are slated under this plan for 280 new 'units'-how many people/with cars/unit unknown. I support increasing workforce housing but oppose giveaways to developers/huge profits. In 4 years, ABAG- an unelected body, will 'revisit' these numbers- and so far, they have always demanded increase of numbers. Fairfax, has been compared to the Oakland Hills in terms of fire danger-narrow windy roads with a fire load that increases by the year. CALTRANS has had plans on the books for a 4 lane highway from San Rafael to Point Reyes and destroy yet another facet of our small town life. 25 % of housing slated to be built iis on n toxic sites. There is a massive push towards geoengineering to meet our water needs at the national level, and this plan will open the floodgates for MMWD's multi-million dollar desal plant ( with intake next to a sewer outlet, out of a bay so polluted with pesticides, herbicides, toxic metals, pharmaceuticals etc. that fisherman are advised not to fish out of it, nor people to swim in it.) and a project which our struggling residents, towns and infrastructure can ill afford in a failing economy.

Ryan, thanks for your words of support. It is not really that hard dealing with the ignoranceRead More demonstrated by the people that have no clue, they actually expose their own ignorance. We can only lead them to the facts, the ones that can think for themselves realize they've been sold a binder of lies, the others just get marginalized in the long run. How often can one scream about the "sky falling", until the men in the whites coats come knocking?

Bed bugs have been turning up in movie theaters, libraries and cafes forever. Expect this toRead More continue. The best thing people can do is learn what they look like and implement an ongoing monitoring system at home, to catch problems early.

Seems pretty obvious Frank Dean and his core management team consider GGNRA public land to be theirRead More own backyard, where they can pick and choose which parts of GGNRA charter they want to follow, and ignore the rest. Their continuous attempts to impose radical, "zero-impact" NPS regs in GGNRA areas is clear demonstration of how completely out of control this management group has become. Dean continues to cost US taxpayers $Ms in litigation costs to defend policies like this in court, which either clearly overstep NPS (and GGNRA's) authority, or are based on misguided interpretations of NPS (and GGNRA) charter(s). These people are either grossly incompetent or willfully ignore the checks and balances designed to prevent the sort of abuses of power that they routinely demonstrate. How is it nothing can be done about this? Doesn't anyone in DC supervise this group? Anyone else "managing" a group like this and exposing US taxpayers to $Ms in litigation costs would have been fired years ago.
