Mill Valley Plans First Annual 'Volunteer Day' for April 1

At the event, community groups will be spreading the word about volunteer opportunities within their organizations and encouraging citizens to sign up and get involved.

The following is a news release from the city of Mill Valley:

On Saturday, April 5, 2014, local community groups and non-profits will be gathering at the Downtown Plaza to hold Mill Valley's first annual Volunteer Day.

From 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., representatives from these various community groups will be spreading the word about volunteer opportunities within their organizations and encouraging citizens to sign up and get involved. Whether your interest is in education, the environment, sports, scouting, music, or other arts, you can learn about the many opportunities available to individuals who wish to lend their services.

The Mill Valley City Council showed its support for the event by issuing a Proclamation at its March 17, 2014 Regular City Council meeting celebrating National Volunteer Week (April 6 - 13, 2014) and encouraging citizens to participate in the April 5th Volunteer Day.
