Rancho Feeding Company in Petaluma, Calif. recalled the beef because it processed diseased and unhealthy animals without a full federal inspection, the Food Safety and Inspection Service said.
The meat was processed by Rancho Feeding Corp. between Jan. 1 2013 and Jan. 7 2014 and shipped to California, Florida and Illinois.
Giant Food, LLC, stopped sales of several products as a result of the recall, including the Hot Pockets Philly Steak & Cheese.
The beef products all have the "EST. 527" in the USDA mark of inspection and a case code ending in 3 or 4, CNN reported.
Last month the company recalled more than 40,000 pounds of meat products produced on Jan. 8 that also didn't undergo a full inspection, the Huffington Post story said.
