Pacifics End Inaugural Season with 2012 Division Title

The San Rafael Pacifics win the North American League North Division Championship with a 6-1 score over Maui Na Koa Ikaika.

Jesse Garcia pitched five shutout innings, Johnny Woodard hit his team-leading 10th homer of the season in the second and Maikel Jova drove in two in the fourth as the San Rafael Pacifics beat the Maui Na Koa Ikaika 6-5 to win the North American Baseball League North Division Championship series at on Sunday afternoon.

Garcia (1-2) struck out seven, to earn his first win of the season for San Rafael (34-26). Relievers, Adnrew Pevsner, Tyler Graham and Matt Stabelfeld combined for three innings of five-hit baseball. The Pacifics won 2 of 3 against Maui in the championship series that began Friday. Julian Arballo allowed four runs on four hits while closing out the win.

D.J. Dixon, Will Wright and Steve Boggs all added RBIs for San Rafael, who went 13-12 against Maui (36-30). With the win, the Pacifics managed to hold at least a share of first place for all but one day of the 2012 season — the first season in the franchise’s history.

Mike Williams (2-6) took the loss for Maui, pitching 2 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and a walk.
