Petaluma Rallies for Little League Team Parade Sunday

As Sonoma County prepares for Sunday's parade to honor the , some fans are still basking in the joy of the series.

"I can’t wait for the parade!" said Kerri Petersen of Petaluma, who watched the series with seven girlfriends on a vacation in Las Vegas.

"Six of the eight of us are Petaluma moms, each with two kids, elementary age and younger," said Petersen, who sent some photos of the Vegas bunch into Patch. "Some of us met through the Petaluma Mothers’ Club, the Petaluma Parents Network, Bunco, or through elementary school.

"The other two were friends of the organizer from Missouri and D.C.," she said.

Sunday's parade will kick off at 1 p.m. at Walnut Park on the Fourth and D Street side in the Petaluma downtown area, police said.

Following the parade will be a celebration at Walnut Park from 1:40 to 4 p.m.

Police said they will be enforcing alcohol related laws during the events.

"No alcohol may be brought to this event," police said. "Public consumption of alcohol will not be allowed."

Petersen, meanwhile, said she and her friends in Vegas had a cabana with a TV.

"We got it set up, we made a sign and hung it to let the world know we supported the Petaluma boys, and we watched," she said.  "It was quiet in our cabana for the first part of the game, but then the comeback inning happened and we were so loud and jumping up and down and screaming and crying.

"What you’d expect a bunch of Petaluma mothers to do!," she said. "We were so proud of “our” boys."

Petersen said all the Petaluma moms knew someone who was connected to one or more of the team members.

"I still get teary eyed thinking about it," she said.
