Downtown Sidewalk Sales Start Today
This marks the first weekend where downtown shops can extend their sales into the sidewalk. The Sidewalk Sale Days are on specific days from now through October.
Spring is in the air, and starting today, downtown businesses will be selling their merchandise outside on the sidewalk during select weekends through October.
The Mill Valley Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center is promoting the annual Sidewalk Sale Days this year, and Executive Director Daniel Escalzo hopes to “give a little more beef to it.”
“We want to make sure as many merchants as possible participate in this,” he said. He’s been handing out fliers at local businesses, making owners aware of which weekends the city will permit sales on the sidewalk. This weekend includes Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. Many of the dates also correspond with the popular Wine and Gourmet Food Tasting event on June 23, and the Fall Arts Festival the weekend of August 16.

Escalzo expects the sales themselves will help improve the vitality of downtown over the summer, and the nice weather and events won't hurt in drawing more locals and visitors alike. It’s an opportunity to for people to score a bargain at their favorite shops, and perhaps discover someplace new.
“I want people walking into stores they’ve never been into before,” Escalzo said. “There’s a lot of great merchants here.”
