At the finish line, it was pure elation for many, particularly for 60-year-old Mill Valley resident Jamie Rivers, who by outlasting 71-year-old Hans Schmid of Greenbrae and 2009 Dipsea champion Brian Pilcher of Ross.
In between was one of the toughest race courses in the country, with competitors ranging from second graders to 85-year-old Roy Harvey from Strawberry, the oldest active Dipsea participant, squaring off in a time-handicapped event that is laden with nuances and complexities.
