Girls Volleyball: Terra Linda 3, Tam 0

Red-tailed Hawks kept each set close until the end despite a knee injury to the indomitable Shoshana Herzog.

Tam High's girls volleyball team could not maintain its momentum against Terra Linda on the road Friday night, falling 16-25, 17-25 and 16-25.

While the scores look lopsided, coach Casey Mondragon said the Red-tailed Hawks (8-11, 2-4) kept the games close and had opportunities to steal the match but were just unable to capitalize.

"We fell flat at the end of all three games," said coach Casey Mondragon. "If we had kept up the momentum we would have pulled out at least one [victory]."

The Hawks' co-captains continued to play at a high level, with Aubrey McKinney showing her versatility with 21 assists and 7 kills, while Karleen Schuldt led the team with 12 spikes.

Tam suffered a big blow in the middle of the second game losing outside hitter Shoshana Herzog to a serious knee injury. Herzog was taken out of the game and transported to the emergency room for further X-rays.

Skylar McCormick filled in for Herzog admirably and played well, according to Mondragon.

"Terra Linda is a great passing team and dug out a lot of balls," said Mondragon. "You have to give them a lot of credit. They are a very good team."
