Girls U-15 Soccer Squad Wins Kick or Treat Tourney

The Tiburon Peninsula Soccer Club's Under 15 team, which features several players from Mill Valley, won the annual Kick or Treat tournament in Fremont over the weekend.

The squad took the honors in their age group, thanks to a combination of excellent passing, strong defending and exceptional fitness.

On Saturday, playing the Mustang Dynamite, the Sharks tied 1-1 with a goal from Annie McEachron. In the afternoon, they grabbed another point with a steady 0-0 draw against SCU Sapphire. On Sunday morning the Sharks clinched their group with a 2-1 victory over the Piedmont Highlanders, thanks to a last-minute goal from Alyssa Urban off a cross from Nicole Garay, who had scored earlier. 

In the final, the Sharks faced a formidable challenge in the form of CV United, which had compiled a 3-0 record thus far, scoring 14 goals while conceding none. But the Sharks had no fear, coming out 2-1 winners, with both goals from Nicole Garay off assists from Ciara Post and Alyssa Urban. Also noteworthy was Kara Waluk in goal, who only allowed three goals in four games.  Under coach Shane Kennedy, the U15 team is now 6-1-1.
