For the second time in three years, San Francisco is hosting one massive party to celebrate the Giants’ World Series win.
The won the 2012 World Series Sunday night over the Detroit Tigers with a 4-3 win in the fourth game.
San Francisco will hold a ticker tape parade and civic celebration in honor of the Giants on Wednesday, Mayor Ed Lee announced Sunday night.
The parade in honor of the Giants' World Series victory against the Detroit Tigers will start at 11 a.m. at the foot of Market Street and continue to Civic Center Plaza, Lee said.
The Giants swept the Tigers, the team's second World Series win in three years. The streets of San Francisco were filled with celebrating fans following the win and the sound of car horns and fireworks were reportedly being heard all over the city.
"The rain in Detroit couldn't dampen the drive, talent and determination of the San Francisco Giants team tonight," Lee said in a statement Sunday night. "Once again, the Giants brought our city together as we all cheered on our hometown heroes to another remarkable World Series victory."
Golden Gate Ferry officials said Monday that there will be additional ferries from Larkspur to San Francisco in addition to the regularly schedule fleet of commuter ferries. Additional ferries will depart the Larkspur terminal at 7:30 a.m., 8:40 a.m. and at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. An extra SF-bound ferry will also head out from Sausalito at 9:35 a.m.
