Tam Pours on Goals to Advance in NCS Soccer Playoffs

Hawks torch Elsie Allen in a 7-0 win that featured goals from six different players; Tam hosts fourth-seeded Maria Carrillo on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. in the semifinal round.

In a rain-soaked second round matchup between Tam High and Elsie Allen High of Santa Rosa in the North Coast Section (NCS) D-I soccer playoffs Saturday, Elsie Allen roared out of the gate, peppering Tam High goalkeeper Cameron Robach with shots early on.

Once Robach and the top-seeded Tam squad weathered that storm without giving up a goal, the Hawks took full control, rattling off a barrage of goals in a 7-0 win that sends them to the semifinals. Tam hosts No. 4 Maria Carrillo on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. for a spot in the NCS finals.

Tam got on the board first on Gabriel Cavalcante penalty shot after an Elsie Allen defender committed a handball inside the box. Tesfaye Paine followed that a few minutes later with a shot from outside the box that found the back of the net. Midfielders Imran Nana and Julien Melendez each added goals in quick succession in the first half, as the Hawks were able to draw the Elsie Allen goalkeeper away from the net and chip the ball in behind him. Tam held a comfortable 4-0 lead at the half, and cruised in the second half.
