Park School Wraps Art Show

Amidst renewed pressure on Kiddo to raise funds to help budget shortfall, students' diverse array of art dazzles.

Facing a that is projected to worsen over the next several years, the is to improve its financial outlook. That includes leaning even more heavily on and the PTA Council, the former of which has taken on a greater burden year after year to make up for budget cuts with private donations and fundraisers.

Kiddo has paid for the district's art programs since its inception, and while it has picked up the tab for an array of technology and teacher programs in recent years, the arts remains its major focus.

held its annual Student Art Show over the past 10 days, hoping to show off the school's talented young artists. While Kiddo funds the arts programs, the Park School PTA paid for the art teachers to work extra hours on the show and also provided volunteers to work on the show as well.

"Given the state of the funding for public education, it is extraordinary how the parents in our community, through PTA and Kiddo, pull together to provide the programs the district cannot fund, like a rich art program and show for our children," said Park School parent and PTA board member Lisa Baldwin. "Without this support, our district would not have art education. The children's art is so impressive!"
