Old Mill Students Shine at Science Fair

Event draws hundreds to see 100 entries and 11 that qualified to go to the Marin County Office of Education Science Fair in March.

Hundreds of people packed into the Old Mill School gymnasium to check out exploding volcanoes, homemade lava lamps, borax crystals and a bevy of other exhibits at the school’s Science Fair last week.

Old Mill Principal Kandee Adams said she was thrilled with the turnout from both attendees and the number of students who created exhibits for the event. Nearly 100 students participated in the fair, with 34 of them entering the school’s first-ever adjudicated competition. Old Mill parents David Weinfeld and Chris Hill organized the fair.

Tam High science teachers Mary Wuerth, Jon Black, and Ben Matzen served as judges for the event, choosing 10 entries to move onto the Marin County Office of Education Science Fair which will be held on March 27 at Vallecito Elementary School in San Rafael.
