Ex-Tam High Principal Resurfaces at Amador Valley High in Pleasanton
Former Tam High Principal Tom Drescher, who announced last December that he would resign from his post in June but subsequently left the school in January, has been hired as the new principal at Amador Valley high School in Pleasanton.
The board of the Pleasanton Unified School District announced last week that it had approved Drescher as the school's new principal, replacing Jim Hansen, who is retiring.
Drescher was the principal at Tam High in the Tamalpais Union High School District for five years, preceded by a stint as the school's assistant principal during the 2007-08 school year.

When Drescher announced his resignation last December, he was in the midst of completing his doctorate in Education Leadership at San Francisco State, which he'd planned to finish this spring. His abrupt departure from Tam was triggered by a "personal circumstance." He transferred to a district position as Principal on Special Assignment for the remainder of his time at TUHSD.
The Tam Union District has since hired Julie Synyard, the principal at St. Helena High School, to replace Drescher. Synyard starts July 1.
