“Considering California’s Keystone Predator:  Understanding Our Bay Area Pumas”

Speaker:  Zara McDonald, Founder and Executive Director of Felidae Conservation Fund

The mountain lion is known by many names such as puma, cougar, and panther.  It has the largest home range of any land animal. As puma habitat and movement corridors are increasingly invaded by human development more sightings and encounters occur.  Join Zara McDonald in a presentation of the Bay Area Puma Project.

Launched in 2008, BAPP is the first major conservation program to study and protect mountain lions in the San Francisco Bay Area. Using innovative GPS collars, coupled with extensive outreach and education, BAPP not only studies the Bay Area’s puma population but also to build public interest and support for protecting this species.
