Mill Valley's Curbside Compost Pickup Service

Earlier this year the Mill Valley City Council voted unanimously to participate in the new curbside compost pickup service offered by Mill Valley Refuse Service. On June 29th the city invites its residents to join the council for Join us for a Public Forum on Mill Valley's New Curbside Compost Pickup Service.

This seminar is being held to help the public understand how to participate in this program by diverting their food scraps from the garbage and into the compost program. Topics to be covered include the benefits of composting, how the program works, how to offset the small monthly rate increase by decreasing garbage can size, and destination and uses of the compost. Presenters include Stephanie Moulton-Peters, Mayor of the Mill Valley; Carol Misseldine, Sustainability Director for the City of Mill Valley; Jim Iavarone, Managing Partner at Mill Valley Refuse Service; Joan Irwin, Marin Master Gardener; and Jessica Jones, Manager of Redwood Landfill.

This forum is free and open to the public and all interested individuals are encouraged to attend.
