It's All About You

Part of the TCSD Wednesday Speaker Series, It's All About You features two topical presentations, by Sharon Meyer, DipION CNC and Molly Roberts, MD, MS.

The first topic of the program is titled "Food as Medicine." Maintaining your health, and preventing and treating chronic diseases can be influenced by naturally occurring chemicals in foods.  In addition to providing energy, these dietary chemicals can directly or indirectly influence gene expression.  Learn about "brain foods" and how they affect brain function, the benefits of the Mediterranean Diet, and how phytochemicals promote health and protect against chronic disease.

Presented by Sharon Meyer, a nutritionist at the Institute for Health & Healing in San Francisco and Marin, and a practicing nutrition consultant for over 15 years.  Sharon specializes in cancer, auto-immune, digestive health, and weight management.  She has lectured world-wide.

The second topic of the program focuses on integrative medicine for better health and wellness. Good health requires integrating many aspects of well-being - from the physical and mental to the environmental and spiritual.  This holistic approach to health goes beyond symptom treatment and views each person as whole and able to activate their own innate healing response.

Presented by Molly Roberts, an integrative medicine physician at the Institute for Health & Healing in San Francisco and Marin.  She has expertise in family medicine, psychotherapy, spirituality, functional medicine, and women's health and is the co-author of The Individual Optimal Nutrition Handbook.
