First Thursday: 'Mockingbirds' Author Daisy Whitney

High school students are invited to this First Thursday event featuring local author Daisy Whitney, whose debut novel The Mockingbirds was one of 2011’s Best Books for Young Adults. Daisy will discuss everything from her own high school experiences and her buzzed-about book to her decision to start writing for teens and the pressures of writing a sequel.

The event is free and is limited to high school students only.

About the author: Daisy Whitney's young adult novel The Mockingbirds (Little Brown, Nov. 2010) was named an NPR Best Teen Read, an ABC New Voices Pick, an ALA Best Fiction for Young Adults, an NCIBA Book of the Year Honorable Mention, a Romantic Times Best of YA, and a Chicago Public Library Best of the Best. Little Brown will publish its sequel, The Rivals, in February 2012.
