Commuting By Rail in Marin

Part of the Tamalpais Community Service District's Wednesday Speaker Series, Community By Rail in Marin features a presentation by Fred Codoni, Railroad Historian and former rail worker.

This presentation with slides and video will remind Marin County residents that they have a rich railroad heritage.  As late as mid-century, 80 miles of track ran through the small towns crisscrossing the county.  Most terminated in Sausalito where ferries took passengers to San Francisco. Join the Community Service District and ask Fred about where these tracks were located and other questions.

"If you forget about history you're doomed to repeat it.  We're repeating history, but that's a good thing in this case," says Fred, who worked for the Northwestern Pacific Railroad in Tiburon during the 1950s. Here more from Fred Codoni, railroad expert, at the program on the 30th.
