Len Saputo, MD, wrote the award winning book, A Return to Healing: Radical Health Care Reform and the Future of Medicine, after witnessing with heartbreaking dismay, as commercial values have overtaken mainstream medicine and all but obliterated the central mission of the medical profession. He points out the deep flaws relating to the militaristic style of medical education, the poor quality of mainstream medical research, the greed of the pharmaceutical and insurance industries, and the conflicts of interest that have destroyed much of the integrity of the FDA, CDC, WHO, and even the US Congress. Dr. Saputo believes that true health care reform requires social transformation integrating our primarily impersonal technologically-based paradigm to a heart-based paradigm created by inspiration rather than legislation, and evolution rather than revolution.
