Edna Maguire Community to Celebrate School's Past and Future Sunday

Students, teachers and administrators past and present will say goodbye to 56-year-old school on the eve of its demolition and the beginning of its 18-month reconstruction.

Fifty-six years ago, a new elementary school in Mill Valley opened and was named after a woman who’d spent 34 years as a teacher and principal in the .

That woman, , and her namesake are the subject of one heck of a party on Sunday afternoon as the district prepares to  and  over the next 18 months.

Organizers of the celebration, set for 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Edna Maguire campus, say there will be live music and entertainment from Edna alumni and a number of Edna-related historical displays. There will also be plenty of food from the likes of Abel's Taco Truck and Firetrail Pizza’s wood-fired mobile kitchen.

“It’s going to be a wonderful event,” Edna Maguire Principal Lisa Zimmer said.
