Gardner said many of the students who are attending the 1 p.m. event in Guzman Lecture Hall are from Performing Stars of Marin, a Marin City nonprofit serving low-income children in Marin County that uses the arts to build character, discipline and self-esteem

Each of the young students will receive a signed copy of Poems To Learn By Heart, Gardner said.

The 192-page book was released on March 26.
