Ring Mountain Day School students participates in the Exploratorium's 25th Annual Pi Day Celebration.

Ring Mountain Day School 5th-8th graders joined other math enthusiasts at the Exploratorium's 25th Annual Pi Day Celebration in San Francisco yesterday. Their teacher, Shauna Sullivan, had a week's worth of pi-related lessons and hands-on activities planned leading up to the trip. They dicussed what Pi is, measured the circumference of circles, cut circles into a variey of angles, and finally, took surveys and created pie charts of the results. At the celebration, held at San francisco's Pier 15, they  participated in the annual Pi Parade, pizza pie tossing, and many other hands-on experiments with circles. The week culminated in a Pi pie party, with students bringing in a variety of sweet and savory pies.
