Planning Commission Recommends Adoption at the First General Plan Public Hearing

The first of two, and possibly three public hearings on the Mill Valley General Plan was held Monday, Sept. 16. The Planning Commission gave their recommendations and Council continued the adoptions to the Sept. 30 meeting.

The Council addressed the MV2040 General Plan update at the first of two review meetings Monday night, asking the City staff to check feasibility of adding a third hearing.

The Planning Commission presented their recommendation, based on consideration of all evidence in the public record, to adopt the revised MV2040 General Plan, the Final MV2040 General Plan Environmental Impact Report (FEIR).

The Mill Valley 2040 General Plan serves as a basis for actions that affect many aspects of our community's daily life, reflects widely held community values. It contains nine “elements”: Land Use, Mobility, Community Vitality, Natural Environment, Climate Action, Hazards and Public Safety, Noise, General Plan Administration and Housing, and these elements address all of the General Plan topics required by applicable California planning laws.

The Council continued the Public Hearing to adopt the resolutions to the September 30, 2013 Special City Council meeting.

There was discussion of an additional special meeting on the General Plan before the Sept. 30, a date will be announced if they City finds it achievable.

At the conclusion of the public hearing on September 30, 2013, City Council will consider the adoption of the three resolutions as part of the formal adoption and approval process for the general plan.
