Occupy Movement Spreads to Depot Plaza

Local residents park themselves on a bench in the plaza Saturday afternoon to show solidarity to worldwide protests. Do you support Occupy Wall Street?

Mill Valley residents Danny Altman and Ara Prigian usually go out for coffee on Saturday mornings. But this past weekend they brought a pair of signs with them to in an effort to express their solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement that has spread all over the U.S. and beyond over the past month.

“We heard that corporations have free speech rights now so we wanted to see if that applies to people as well,” said Altman, counder and CEO of A Hundred Monkeys, a branding and naming agency on Miller Avenue.

Although Occupy protests have spawned all over the Bay Area in recent weeks, including one that drew more than 200 people to downtown San Rafael on Oct. 12, the movement hasn’t quite caught hold in Mill Valley.
