Muir Woods Shuttle Returns Saturday

Service between the Pohono Park and Ride lot off Highway 101 and Muir Woods National Monument runs on weekends through Oct. 28.

Marin residents looking to avoid the tourist and day-tripper traffic on the way to Muir Woods are in luck. The Muir Woods Shuttle resumes Saturday and runs weekend service (and Memorial and Labor days) through October 28.

"Take the shuttle to the Muir Woods National Monument without the hassle of traffic and parking," said Marin Transit, which operates the shuttle, in a statement. The shuttle is sponsored by Marin Transit and the National Park Service

Free parking is available at the Manzanita and Pohono Street parking lots off Highway 101 in Mill Valley. Customers can also take the ferry from San Francisco and meet the Muir Woods shuttle in Sausalito or take regional or local bus service to transfer in Sausalito or Marin City.

Buses run about every 15 minutes from the Pohono lot to Muir Woods. The cost is $3 for adults and $1 for youth, seniors and the disabled. Go here for more on schedules and fares or call 526-3239.
