MMWD Board Div. IV (Mill Valley, Alto, Homestead Valley, the portion of Tam Valley that lies north and west of Hwy. 1):

  • Cynthia Koehler - Incumbent.
  • Sashi McEntee - The Mill Valley resident is the former chair of the Marin Republican Party and a vocal proponent of the public's right to vote on desalination. McEntee was tossed out of her party chair slot in July in a vote by the party's central committee after a disagreement over a newspaper opinion column.
  • Larry Rose - The Mill Valley resident was a senior public health officer in Cal-OSHA for 28 years. Rose is a member of the Marin Water Coalition, which opposes the district's desalination plans. The coalition is behind the Marin Responsible Water Policy initiative.

:

Marin County has one candidate and three measures on the ballot.

Assessor/Recorder: A run-off election is being held for the position of County Assessor/Recorder. The two candidates are the assistant assessor and a senior appraiser.

There are no Mill Valley-specific measures on the ballot, but Mill Valley Patch has done a number of articles on the countywide measures with direct impact on local residents:

Measure BWould approve a $10 vehicle registration fee to be spent within Marin County by the Transportation Authority of Marin to reduce congestion and traffic. Majority approval required.

Measure S and T: There are relating to the MMWD potential desalination plans. As previously indicated, those measures use similar language but have goals that are diametrically opposed, and many voters by them.

Measure S: Should an ordinance be adopted requiring voter approval before the Marin Municipal Water District approves constructing or financing the construction of a desalination facility?

Measure T: Should an ordinance be adopted requiring voter approval before the Marin Municipal Water District approves, authorizes or undertakes the construction of a facility to desalinate water, or approves other funding mechanisms intended to pay for such construction, or takes any steps towards approving any contract relating to the planning or construction of any such facility?
