Update: Gas Line Leak on East Blithedale Secured

PG&E remained on the scene to restore service, and no injuries were reported.

PG&E has secured the gas line that construction workers struck this morning - causing a complete shutdown of East Blithedale with residents being asked to remain in their homes.

While working on the overhaul of the thoroughfare, around 10 a.m. Wednesday construction workers hit an unmarked gas line just east of Elm and Alta Vista. It was not a high-pressure main, and no injuries were reported.

The city asked residents to "shelter in place" for precautionary measures. The road was shut down from Camino Alto to Sunnyside, according to Mill Valley Fire officials.

PG&E officials remained on the scene to restore service, and the sewer and gas line portion of the construction project has now continued as planned, with alternating lane closures and 10 to 15 minute traffic delays on East Blithedale.

The city highly recommends using either Camino Alto or Miller Ave. as alternative routes.
