Tiburon Woman Suspected of Underage DUI After Crash

Police say an 18-year-old Tiburon struck another car on Hwy. 101 near the Seminary Drive exit early Tuesday morning, injuring the driver of the other car and herself.

On the heels of a weekend that included five collisions involving allegedly intoxicated drivers and another seven DUI arrests, California Highway Patrol officers made another DUI arrest early Tuesday morning after a crash on Highway 101 near the Seminary Drive exit in Mill Valley.

Police said they arrested 18-year-old Juliana Grevesmuhl of Tiburon woman on suspicion of drunken driving early Tuesday morning after she hit another car while changing lanes, flipping her car several times and sending both herself and the drover of the car to the hospital.

Grevesmuhl was heading north on Highway 101 near the Seminary Drive exit in Strawberry at about 12:45 a.m. Tuesday when she lost control of her 1993 Lexis ES300 and hit the left rear corner of a 2006 Honda Civic in the next lane, officer Eric Hohmeister said.

The collision sent Grevesmuhl’s Lexus rolling several times down the highway before it hit the concrete center divider, coming to rest on its roof, Hohmeister said. Grevesmuhl was trapped in the Lexus with her hair tangled on something within the passenger compartment, according, he added. A witness arrived on scene and helped extricate herself from the Lexus until CHP arrived. Meanwhile, the Honda hit the guardrail on the Richardson Bay Bridge.

Grevesmuhl was arrested after CHP officers determined she had been driving under the influence of alcohol, Hohmeister said. She and the driver of the Honda, a 73-year-old Hercules man, were both taken to Marin General Hospital by Southern Marin Fire Paramedics, with Grevesmuhl sustaining cuts to her face and the Honda driver receiving cuts on his chest, knee and back and pain in his abdomen.
