Bloody Teen on LSD Had 'Superhuman' Strength, Emergency Responders Said

At a vacant house for sale on Reed Blvd., paramedics and deputies said they encountered teens aggressively resisting their efforts, including one with "superhuman strength" who was spitting blood at them.

Three teens were taken to Marin General Hospital and subsequently arrested Sunday morning after a party involving LSD and a host of other drugs spiraled out of control, with paramedics and law enforcement officers having to fight off teens covered in blood in order to treat a boy who was reportedly having a drug-induced seizure, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies and Southern Marin Fire paramedics were called to a home in the 100 block of Reed Blvd. in Strawberry at 7:30 a.m. Sunday on a report that a 16-year-old boy was having a seizure, Sheriff’s Lt. Doug Pittman said. As they arrived, teens inside the home told 911 dispatchers that the boy might have been experiencing severe effects from using “acid” or LSD there overnight, Pittman said.

Paramedics trying to get onto the property were confronted at an entry gate by the 16-year-old boy, who was covered in blood and refused to let the firefighters pass, according to Pittman. The boy, who they suspected was under the influence, attacked several firefighters with what they later described as “superhuman strength,” he said.

Additional Sheriff’s deputies were called to the scene, “physically subduing” the teen at the gate, Pittman said, before being confronted by other teens, including an 18-year-old man and an 18-year-old woman, the latter of whom deputies later learned is the girlfriend of the boy whose condition first prompted the 911 call.

The two male teenagers spit blood on paramedics and deputies during the confrontation, Pittman said.

Extra Sheriff’s deputies and officers from four other law enforcement agencies were called to the scene, including Mill Valley, Tiburon and Central Marin police departments and the California Highway Patrol.

Pittman said that once the scene was under control, paramedics treated the boy who was having an “LSD-induced seizure,” finding eight other teens inside the house, all of whom also had blood on them but were not combative.

Deputies later determined that the blood on the teens was from self-inflicted – but not suicidal – injuries sustained by the 16-year-old boy.

Deputies cited a 16-year-old girl under Marin’s Social Host Ordinance, as they determined that her family owns the vacant house and was selling it and she had a key and provided access to the home. She also was cited for possession of DMT, an illegal psychedelic drug that Pittman described as having ecstasy-like attributes.

In addition to LSD and DMT, Pittman said deputies also found marijuana and cocaine at the party, as well as indications that people at the party were using heroin.

The three teens remained hospitalized late Sunday before they will be booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall, Pittman said. They’ll be booked on suspicion of a series of charges, including resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer, assault on a firefighter, contributing possession of illegal narcotics and, in the case of the 18 year olds, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, Pittman said.

Pittman said the investigation into the party is ongoing as they contact the parents and legal guardians of the party attendees.
