The Week That Was

A look in the rearview mirror at the past week in Mill Valley news.

After a particularly gloomy summer weather season, the last week of August brought the heat in a big way, with temperatures rising well into the triple digits on Tuesday.  In a less sweaty and decidedly more impressive way, a bevy of Marin Youth Performers were bringing the heat indoors in the production of Into the Woods.

Sports editor Justin Lafferty took a swing at profiling Oakland A's doctor Alan Pont. He also previewed the 2010 Tam High football team and checked out their first test in a preseason scrimmage.

Photographer and man-about-town Hans Roenau brought us the visuals, chronicling some chess warriors and face painters in Depot Plaza, posing our latest "Where in Mill Valley Am I" question and snapping a priceless shot of a tongue-wagging Yorkie named Winchester at the 2nd annual Mill Valley Dog Show at Whole Foods on Miller Ave.

In between, we had a local dentist make the list of the county's certified green business, a look at a golfer on a hole-in-one hot streak, some good real estate news, some not-so-great employment news, an impressive sales tally for the city's RSVP program and Russel Daniels' lively survey of Tam High students about the new school year.
