Tam Valley Man Becomes Infamous for Alleged DUI Binge

USA Today picks up story of local resident's three DUI arrests in three days.

A Tam Valley man whose blood-alcohol level was nearly four times the legal limit when he was arrested May 19 in Novato is achieving infamy for being nailed for three DUI offenses in three days.

Timothy James McGowan, 50, was arrested May 17 outside a San Rafael bank on suspicion of drunken driving and having a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 percent, Marin County Chief Deputy District Attorney Barry Borden said.

McGowan also was cited for an infraction alleging he drove with a blood-alcohol level of 0.01 percent or greater while on probation, Borden said.

McGowan also was arrested May 19 on Clay Court in Novato, according to the Marin County jail's booking log. His blood-alcohol level was measured at .32 percent, Borden said.

In between those two Marin arrests, McGowan was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving in San Francisco.
