Suspect in Strawberry Bank Robbery Indicted

Man who allegedly robbed three Marin banks in three days in March now faces federal charges.

Two months after at the  in Strawberry on suspicion of robbing a , a federal grand jury has indicted a 24-year-old man on charges of robbing banks in Strawberry, Novato, Greenbrae, Los Altos and Fremont, according to the Marin Independent Journal.

Cory Allen Todd is charged with three counts of armed bank robbery and two counts of unarmed bank robbery, according to the indictment. The armed counts each carry up to 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine; the unarmed counts, 20 years and a $250,000 fine.

Todd was arrested April 11 after the Marin County Sheriff’s Office received a tip that a man matching the description of the suspect in a  and a third robbery on March 30 was spotted driving along the Redwood Hwy. Frontage Road in Strawberry, according to Sheriff’s Sgt. Mark Hale.

Sheriff’s deputies and California Highway Patrol officers went to the scene and spotted the vehicle in the parking lot of the Tamalpais Motel at 680 Redwood Hwy. Frontage Road, Hale said.

Officers contacted the suspect inside one of the rooms at the motel and positively identified him as the person who robbed the Bank of Marin in Novato on March 28, as well as the the Citibank in Greenbrae and the  on March 30, Hale said.

Officers arrested Todd and he was booked into Marin County Jail on three counts of robbery. The Marin County District Attorney's Office has dropped its case on those charges in deference to the federal case, the IJ reported.

During the Strawberry incident, the last of the three thefts, the man gave a note to the teller demanding money and then brandished a handgun when the teller didn't immediately respond. He fled on foot after receiving some cash.
