Stolen Car, Victoria's Secret Shenanigans and More Pricey Bike Thefts

This week's roundup of police activity includes thievery, thievery and more thievery, as well as some alleged reckless driving.

March 26

11:02 a.m. – Police received a report that a $5,000 white Santa Cruz Blue LT mountain bike was stolen from the 400 block of East Blithedale Ave. near Mesa Avenue. The bike was locked to a bike rack and the lock was cut, according to the report. The owner did not have the bike’s serial number or a photo of it.

12:53 p.m. – A resident of Eucalytpus Knoll reported that her car was dented by either a hammer or a mallet. The owner didn’t witness the incident but suspected that another resident of the complex committed the vandalism

5:15 p.m. – A resident reported that her daughter’s iPhone was stolen from Tam High.

March 27

8:41 a.m. – A resident of Lovell Ave. reported that three credit card accounts had been opened in the resident’s name. No charges had been made to the cards yet, and there was no suspect information.

9:09 a.m. – A resident of Novato who works in Mill Valley called police to report that her car, a white Honda Civic, was stolen in Novato.

11:45 a.m. – A resident of Throckmorton Ave. reported to police that her ex-boyfriend was stalking her and her new boyfriend, keying the new boyfriend’s car the previous night. Police advised the women to get a restraining order.

4:56 p.m. – A resident of Catalpa Ave. reported that sometime between 2:45 p.m. and 2:55 p.m., delivery men from Best Buy dropped off a microwave she had purchased. The resident’s mother, who lives there and has a hard time seeing, was home at the time, accused the delivery men of stealing her iPad, valued at $600. Police contacted officials from Best Buy in San Rafael, who denied any involvement in the incident.

6:25 p.m.  – The owner of the Chevron gas station on Miller Ave. reported that a driver crashed into the back wall of the gas station and cracked it. The owner said the driver provided his info and said police could contact him about it.

10:28 p.m. – A resident of Miwok Way reported that she could hear someone singing and talking loudly. Police checked the area but were unable to locate any singing.

March 28

1:13 p.m. – Police received a report of grand theft of a Blue Felt 55 road bike outside Mill Valley Market. It was unclear if the bike was locked outside the store.

4:21 p.m. – A resident reported that her son’s mountain bike was stolen from in front of Tam High sometime between 8 a.m. and 3:25 p.m.

6:50 p.m. – A resident reported that her son was running track at the Tam High field and his cell phone was stolen from his backpack. The resident said the phone was tracked to the area of Drake Ave. and Donahue St. in Marin City at around 6:20 p.m.

7:56 p.m. – A driver called police to report that a silver Infiniti parked on Sycamore Ave. near La Goma St. was so far out from the curb that the driver had “to slam on his breaking to miss hitting it. Police went to the area and determined that there was no violation, as there was enough room to pass.

10:35 p.m. – A white Dodge Charger parked in the Piatti Restaurant lot had its window smashed and an iPad, laptop and backpack were stolen some time between 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.

March 29

3:47 p.m. – A resident of West Blithedale Ave. near Ralston Ave. reported that she left her purse in her unlocked car and it was stolen last Friday.

6:11 p.m. – A resident of Lovell Ave. reported that she received two letters about accounts that were fraudulently opened in her name. One was a Macy’s card with charges totaling $1,100, and the other was a Victoria’s Secret card with an undisclosed amount of charges.

March 30

2:38 a.m. – A resident of Miwok Way reported that there were 3-4 people outside of her apartment talking loudly. Police contacted the two people who were talking and asked them to keep voices down.

1:16 p.m. – A gray Mercedes belonging to a Whole Foods Market employee broke down near the entrance to the store, cause people who subsequently approached the entrance to turn around unsafely, according to a report. The employee had already called for a tow and did not need assistance. Police determined that the car was not blocking the entrance.

March 31

11:28 a.m. – A resident called police to report a possible case of driving under the influence after seeing a beige Ford Escape driving “all over the place in the wrong lanes of traffic” on East Blithedale Ave. at Camino Alto. Police were unable to locate the Escape.

April 1

2:50 p.m. – A resident of Coach Rd. reported that someone broke into the home, likely through the front door, ransacked the house, tossed things around in the closets and stole several computers. The incident occurred some time between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m.
