Sausalito Man Arrested in Alleged Male Prostitution Sting

Police say an anonymous tip about a Craigslist ad for sexual services led to sting at Mill Valley hotel and arrest Thursday afternoon.

A 30-year-old Sausalito man was arrested Thursday afternoon on suspicion of soliciting prostitution after police set up a sting at a Mill Valley hotel following an anonymous tip about a Craigslist ad for sexual services.

Brian Crane was arrested after arranged to meet him under the guise of a sexual encounter, according to Sgt. Paul Wrapp. Crane was taken into custody and booked in Marin County Jail. He has since posted bail and is out of custody. He is schedule for an arraignment on June 22.

Police received the anonymous tip about a posting in the “Casual Encounters” section of Craigslist. Detective Lindsay Haynes researched the subject and was able to confirm his identity, Wrapp said.

Police then corresponded with a person they believed was Crane, confirmed his intentions and arranged to meet him at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at a Mill Valley hotel. He was arrested by Detective Ryan Smith without incident upon his arrival.
