San Anselmo Sex Offender Accused of Raping a San Rafael Woman in Laundry Room in Strawberry

Police arrested a registered San Anselmo sex offender who was accused of raping a 60-year-old San Rafael woman in the laundry room of an apartment complex in Strawberry.

Leroy Anthony Clark, 36, was arrested Tuesday and booked into Marin County Jail with bail set at $100,000. He was charged with rape, burglary, false imprisonment, intimately touching a victim against his or her will, dissuading a victim from giving testimony, and a probation violation.

The Marin IJ reports the victim was visiting family on Reed Boulevard in Strawberry when the man forced her into the laundry room of the apartment complex, claimed he had a gun, and sexually assaulted her. Based on her description of a man that was 6-foot-4 and 240 pounds, a Marin County Sheriff investigator suspected Clark. The woman was shown multiple photos and picked him out. Clark was arrested at his Buena Vista Avenue apartment in San Anselmo.
