Prescription Drug Fraud, Dustup at the Mountain Home Inn and One Very Important Pitching Stint

This week's roundup of Mill Valley Police activities also features someone playing the ukelele too loudly, a hot dog in a car and a number of mysterious noise complaints.

May 28
6:02 a.m. – A resident reported to police that someone was using a leaf blower in the area of East Blithedale Ave. and Camino Alto for the past 17 minutes.

6:34 p.m. – A resident of the 400 block of Eldridge Ave. reported that the home was ransacked but they were unable to determine if anything had been stolen. The alleged burglars gained access through a bedroom window, according to the report.

May 29
2:13 p.m. – Someone left a small dachshund dog inside a black Volkswagen Jetta for approximately 5 minutes, leaving no food or water in the car for the dog, according to a complaint.

3:23 p.m. – Police received a report of a reckless driver is a four-door Lexus sedan who was speeding and passing cars unsafely on Redwood Hwy. Police were unable to locate the suspect vehicle.

5:27 p.m. – After police received a complaint that a white Mercedes was parked in the middle of the road in the 200 block of Manor Drive, they contacted the owner, who said that his wife parked the car in the middle of the road because her son was pitching in a baseball game at nearby Boyle Park and she needed to get out of the car quickly in order to watch him pitch. The car was moved.

6:28 p.m. – An employee of CVS on East Blithedale Ave. reported to police that a white woman in her 30s was attempting to use a fake ID to get prescription drugs under someone else’s name. The employee notified police that an insurance company had called CVS earlier in the day about the same person. Police sent out a bulletin to all nearby law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for the woman.

May 30
2:40 p.m. – A resident called police to report seeing a man punch his dog in the face in the 200 block of East Blithedale before going inside a business. The man was described as a white male in his 60s with white hair and a white beard, and the dog was a red Irish setter. Police went to the area but were unable to locate the man or the dog.

5:42 p.m. – A resident of the 100 block of Buena Vista Ave. reported that she went into a locked drawer in her room and found six bottles of narcotics missing.

6:36 p.m. – An employee of the Mili retail store on Throckmorton Ave. reported that a white woman in her late 60s wearing black pants and Birkenstock sandals stole a pair of leggings.

May 31
7:56 p.m. – Police received a report that a group of juveniles were drinking and throwing rocks in the parking lot of Sol Food in the 400 block of Miller Ave. Police were unable to locate the juveniles when they went to the scene.

10:15 p.m. – A resident of the 200 block of Throckmorton Ave. reported that his grandmother hit his dad. Police could hear the grandmother screaming in the background. They went to the home and determined that it was an argument between deaf family members. Mediation information was provided.

June 1
9:39 a.m. – An Econoline van parked on Elm and Locust avenues was egged for the second time in a week.

6:30 p.m. – A resident of Elaine Ave. near Ralston Ave. reported that there was some very loud music playing somewhere in the canyon for the past several hours. Police checked a number of streets in the area, including Elaine, Marguerite and Manzanita, to no avail. The resident who reported the noise refused to give contact info for follow up.
At 8 p.m. and 9:37 p.m., police received subsequent calls from the same anonymous man about the noise. Police said the caller was very upset and was advised that there was a fundraiser occurring in the area and that the music would stop soon.

11:29 p.m. – Police received a noise complaint about the music at the Sweetwater Music Hall. The manager agreed to close the doors of the venue.

June 2
12:17 a.m. – An employee of the Mountain Home Inn called police to report that another staff member threw an apron at her, hitting her on the head, after she asked the servers at a wedding to come upstairs. The man also swore at the woman, but did the premises when she told him to, according to the report.

2:57 a.m. – A resident of Rowan Way reported that someone in the area was singing and playing the ukulele loudly.

3:33 p.m. – A resident of Shelter Bay called police to complain that there were kids in the pool at Sunrise Point and that she didn’t think they lived there and they were being too noisy. Police went to the scene and determined it was simply a few families playing in the pool with small children. No violation.

5:40 p.m. – A woman had her light gray Trek road bike stolen from in front of the Whole Foods Market on Miller Avenue.

June 3
1:22 a.m. – A resident of Lovell Ave. near Summit Ave. reported that there were three young white women in their 20s who were throwing bottles and cans and were likely intoxicated. They were gathered around a newer model Toyota Prius, according to the report. Police were unable to locate the women.
