Police Nab Alleged Car Thieves

On Hwy. 101 near the Waldo Tunnel, multiple police cars stop Chevy Impala that had been reported stolen from Alamo Car Rental of Oakland.

Police arrested three people early Saturday morning suspected of stealing a rental car in the East Bay and shooting at another car on Interstate 580.

The trio, a man and two women all in their 30s, was taken into custody after a “high-risk stop” involving multiple units with guns drawn as they pulled the car over on Highway 101 south just south of the Waldo Tunnel, according to Mill Valley Police Lt. Ken Dunkel.

The car, a 2012 Chevrolet Impala, was reported stolen from Alamo Car Rental of Oakland. At around 5 a.m. Saturday, Richmond Police received a report of a shot being fired from an Impala matching the description of the stolen car on the on-ramp of Interstate 580 at the Harbour Way South. The bullet reportedly grazed the driver of the car that was shot at but he was not seriously hurt, Richmond police reported.
