Police Blotter: March 29 – April 4

The week's worth of police activities included a number of car burglaries, a checkout counter theft at Goodman Building Supply and some derogatory graffiti.

Tuesday, March 29

(Penal Code Violation) After a report that two men were in a fistfight at E. Blithedale Avenue and Tower Drive at 11:30 a.m., police officers responded found a man yelling at a woman. Police determined that the man was on probation and arrested him on suspicion of public drunkenness and a probation violation.

(Grand Theft Report) A customer at Goodman Building Supply reported at 9:02 p.m. that her wallet was taken from her shopping cart at the checkout area. Store employees said that they might have the incident on a security camera. The woman said that the wallet contained $950 in cash, along with credit cards and miscellaneous items.

Wednesday, March 30

(Parking Complaint/Violation) A resident of Nelson Avenue called police at 11:08 a.m.  to report that she was upset because contractors have parked their construction vehicles in front of her house. The woman told police that the neighborhood was not a commercial zone and that she wanted something done. Police informed the resident public streets are available for anyone to park.

(Solicitor) A woman asking for change outside the Whole Foods Market on East Blithedale has been the subject of a number of complaints in recent weeks, and was again at 11:54 a.m. CA resident complained that the woman was outside the store near the produce holding a sign saying, “Help me I’m poor starving.” The woman was joined by a young child. Police contacted them and told them not to return to the store and contacted Immigration & Customs Enforcement.

Thursday, March 31

(Parking Complaint / Violation) Mill Valley Fire personnel reported difficulty getting around vehicles on their way to a medical aid call on Monte Vista Avenue at 2:45 a.m. Police responded to the area and issued citations to two vehicles parked illegally.

Friday, April 1

(Welfare Check) A caller from the Episcopal Church reported at 8:20 a.m. that a woman with long hair matted to her head, wearing a backpack was walking around talking to herself in Old Mill Park near the restrooms. An officer made contact with the woman and determined that the woman did not meet the criteria for being crazy or a danger to herself. The woman then left for the library.

(Juvenile Disturbance) A resident of Lower Alcatraz Place near Corte Madera Avenue called police at 10:43 p.m. to report that a group of approximately six juveniles were drinking in the area, and that he had just heard a bottle smash on the ground. Officers responded and found three juveniles drinking. One juvenile who was in possession of alcohol was cited and released to a parent. 

Saturday, April 2

(Fraud Report) A resident of King Street called police at 10:09 a.m. to report he has been getting numerous phone calls from a man stating that if he buys two prepaid credit cards, he will win half a million dollars. The subject wanted to come to the caller’s house to do the exchange. Police provided advice to the caller.

Sunday, April 3

(Petty Theft Report) A resident of Kipling Drive called police at 9:07 a.m. to report that sometime overnight his unlocked car was entered and a cell phone and sunglasses were taken, continuing a that have hit that neighborhood in recent weeks.

(Petty Theft Report) A resident of Elm Avenue reported at 10:26 a.m. that his two unlocked vehicles were entered sometime overnight. His wife’s wallet was taken but a neighbor found it down the street. The cash was gone but credit cards were still in the wallet.

Monday, April 4

(Vandalism Graffiti) A woman called police at 9 a.m. to report that someone wrote derogatory remarks about her 17-year-old daughter at a bust stop at Miller and Sunnyside avenues. The woman said that her daughter has a temporary restraining order against an ex-boyfriend and she felt that he was responsible for the graffiti.
