Police Blotter: July 28 - August 2

The week's lowlights include a stolen bicycle, stolen flowers, and an (almost) stolen disabled parking placard.

Wednesday, July 28

A driver on Miller Ave. called police at 10:19pm to report that a dark colored Honda had blown through a number of stop signs at a high rate of speed heading towards downtown. Police had no available units to investigate the report.

After learning that his ATM card had been used at a variety of gas stations in Los Angeles to the tune of $415 over the past four days, a resident of Camino Alto Court reported the matter to police at 11:37am. Police advised the man to contact his bank and cancel the card.

A resident of Roque Moraes Drive told police that his son's 2009 blue Diamond Back bicycle with "joker" stickers on it was stolen approximately two weeks ago. The bicycle has an estimated value of $350.

Friday, July 30

A driver called police at 2:02pm to report that $200 worth of flowers were stolen from her van at 1 W. Blithedale Avenue. Police have no suspects in the case.

Sunday, August 1

At 3:25pm, a resident of Fern Ave. reported that his disabled parking placard was stolen from his car, which was parked in his driveway. Police removed the placard from the registration system. The man later found the placard in his notebook.

A resident of Molina Ave. told police at 7:15pm that his father, who has Alzheimer's disease and a habit of wandering off, had been missing for two hours. The man eventually returned home.

At 10:15pm, a resident of Sycamore Ave. reported that a nearby home had a number of bicycles outside and was playing loud music. Police found a group of kids playing in the pool in the back and advised the parents of the complaint.

A resident of Kipling Drive called police at 11:49pm to report that a 26-year-old friend who was staying with them went to a club in San Francisco with them the night before but was left there and has not been seen since. Police kept the report on file.

Monday, August 2

The manager of the Mill Valley Health Club & Spa on East Blithedale Ave. called police at 9:31am to report suspected public drunkenness because a man was asleep in a Toyota Camry in the parking lot. Upon contact, police determined that the man was not intoxicated and said he would be leaving the property.
