Police Blotter: Feb. 22 – March 7

A resident concerned about local fruit sales, a hot tub cover-slamming 9-year-old and a false alarm about an alleged creepy peep hole at Joe's Taco Lounge highlight our recent police department activity.

Tuesday, Feb. 22

(Burglary Report) Someone cut the fence to the storage yard of Goodman Building Supply on Redwood Hwy. and stole 75 one-gallon gas cans, a store employee reported to police at 10:54 a.m.

(Traffic Hazard) A resident of Hillside Avenue called police at 3:18 p.m. to report that a white box truck was parked in the middle of the street and blocking all cars passing through. The caller said the truck’s owner told him that “it’s going to be parked there for a while.” A police officer responded and had the owner move the truck.

(Advice to Citizen) A resident of Plymouth Avenue and Oxford Avenue called police at 5:36 p.m. to report that he was being harassed by his 9-year-old neighbor, who was slamming down the cover of a hot tub. Police provided advice as to how to deal with the matter.

Wednesday, Feb. 23

(Juvenile Disturbance) Police were called to Tam High at 9:34 p.m. on a report that a group of about 12 teens in four cars were being loud. Officers respond and said they found 15 noisy juveniles. They cited several of them for alcohol violations and released them to their parents. 

Thursday, Feb. 24

(Assist Citizen) A resident of Robertson Terrace called police at 1:09 p.m. to report that her neighbor had some yard waste partially in the roadway for a week. The woman wanted police to determine whether it was a possible hazard. An officer responded and found raked eucalyptus leaves in the driveway and on the side of the road. Police found there was no merit to the report.

(Assist Medical) A bicyclist riding on the sidewalk on Miller Ave. near Grilly’s Restaurant at 9:55 p.m. ran into a pedestrian. The pedestrian fell to sidewalk with an injury to the head and was taken to Marin General Hospital.

Friday, Feb. 25

(Public Intoxication) Police received two calls of an intoxicated man in the area of Nelson Avenue and Ryan Avenue at 8:38 a.m. The first call said a man holding a six-pack of beer appeared drunk and was walking down the street. The second caller also reported seeing a drunk man in the area who was trying to hide beer in his jacket. Police responded but were unable to locate the subject.

(Unwanted Subject) An employee of the Ferrari dealership on Redwood Hwy. called police at 2:28 p.m. to report that a man on crutches who appeared to be under the influence of several substances was asking for a car to be ready for him. The man was also asking staff to buy him things, wasn’t making any sense and was making staff uncomfortable, according to the employee. Police responded and found no merit to the report of a crime.

(Petty Theft Report) A woman called police from Park School at 4:22 p.m. to report that someone stole her brown leather purse from her unlocked vehicle in the school parking lot. The woman estimated the loss at $600.

Sunday, Feb. 27

(Suspicious Circumstance) A resident of Ashford Avenue called police at 12:23 a.m. to report hearing what sounded like someone was knocking into something inside her home. The woman locked herself in her bedroom with her dog and told police that she has an alarm but it didn’t go off. Police responded and checked inside and outside the hour and found no merit to the report of a possible prowler. 

Monday, Feb. 28

(Grand Theft Report) A resident of Oakdale Avenue called police at 9:16 a.m. to report that sometime overnight his laptop and case were stolen from his unlocked vehicle. He estimated the value of the laptop and case at $2,000.

(Grand Theft Report) Two snowboards were stolen from the front porch of a home on Magee Avenue, according to a report the resident of the home filed at 2:05 p.m. The estimated value of the snowboards was $1,663.

(Suspicious Person Report) A man who reportedly regularly trespasses at the Mill Valley Tennis Club was reported again at 10:26 a.m. The caller said the man trespassed again on the property the day before, riding his bicycle, watching kids play tennis and taking a shower in the clubhouse. The caller requested extra patrol by police.

Wednesday, March 2

(Disturbance – Verbal) An argument over a parking spot in the Safeway parking lot at 5:51 p.m. drew the attention of others, with a woman shooting video of the exchange on her cell phone. The verbal argument was between an older guy and two younger men, and the older man pushed the younger ones. The two younger men walked over to Starbucks and the older man drove off. Police ran the license plate number provided via the video but it didn’t match the correct vehicle.

Thursday, March 3

(Miscellaneous Code Violation) A man who declined to give his identity called police at 10:23 a.m. to report that someone was selling fruit at Sycamore Avenue and Valley Circle and didn’t have a permit. An officer responded and found kids selling fruit. No merit to report of a crime.

(Miscellaneous Code Violation) An anonymous called reported to police at 2:40 p.m. that someone was selling fruit on Montford Ave. one block behind the 2am Club. Police responded and found no merit to the claim once again, as it was a child selling fruit in an unincorporated area.

Friday, March 4

(Petty Theft Report) A resident of Magee Avenue reported at 11:15 a.m. that sometime between last Friday night and Saturday morning, someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a variety of items with an estimated value of $500.

(Found Property) A resident called police from Tamalpais Avenue at 11:45 a.m. and said that he found a snowboard in the bushes while walking his dog and wanted to turn it in but remain anonymous. An officer responded and took board to the police station for safekeeping. Police determined that the snowboard is recovered property from a recent theft, and contacted its owner to come and retrieve it.

Saturday, March 5

(Vandalism Report) A resident of Plymouth Avenue called police at 8:18 a.m. to report that she heard noises last night and found out today that her house had been egged.

(Noise Disturbance) A priest at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church called police at 8:17 pm. to report that two or three people were in the church parking lot playing bongo drums and the noise was preventing him from praying. The priest said he didn’t feel comfortable going outside to get a physical description of the people. A second caller also reported loud drumming noise in the area. An officer responded and asked the subjects to leave the area.

(Hit & Run Misdemeanor – Just Occurred) A female driver on East Blithedale Avenue struck at least three parked cars on the street at around 10:22 p.m. and drove away, according to reports. Police pursued the driver, stopped the car and arrested the woman on suspicion of driving under the influence. The car was towed.

Sunday, March 6

(Noise Disturbance) Police were called to Tyler Florence’s 40th birthday party at his soon-to-open El Paseo restaurant at 12:57 a.m. on a noise complaint. Police responded and asked them to keep the noise down.

Monday, March 7

(Suspicious Circumstance) An anonymous male caller reported to police at 11:31 a.m. that the bathroom at Joe’s Taco had a small hole with what appeared to be a very tiny glass lens in it right over the toilet in the corner. A police officer responded and found a hole in the wall filled with epoxy resin but no camera lens.
