Police Arrest Three on Suspicion of Drunken Driving on Thanksgiving Eve

Marin law enforcement agencies dispatched saturation patrols from 6 p.m. and to 3 a.m. During that time, 28 vehicles were stopped.

Three people were arrested on suspicion of drunken driving during a county-wide DUI crackdown on Thanksgiving eve, according to San Rafael police Sgt. Christopher Coale.

On Nov. 21, Marin law enforcement agencies dispatched saturation patrols from 6 p.m. and to 3 a.m. During that time, 28 vehicles were stopped, four field sobriety tests were given and three were arrested. The San Rafael and Tiburon police departments made the arrests, Coale said.

One suspect coming from a downtown San Rafael drinking spot was arrested after officers found the driver had a .180 BAC.  "That is over twice the legal limit of .08 BAC," Coale said in a release.

Three unlicensed drivers were cited and released, nine safety violations were issued and two vehicles were towed.

California Highway Patrol officers also arrested 12 drivers in Marin on suspicion of drunken driving, and responded to three DUI-related crashes during the long Thanksgiving weekend.
