Police Arrest Man After Alleged Safeway Shoplifting Binge

Rohnert Park man was detained Monday afternoon on suspicion of stealing groceries and alcohol from Safeway stores in both Corte Madera and Mill Valley, police say.

arrested a 22-year-old Rohnert Park man Monday afternoon on suspicion of stealing groceries from the Safeway store at 1 Camino Alto just after doing the same from the Safeway at the Town Center in Corte Madera, police said.

Duane Warren Jackson was detained by Marin County Sheriff’s deputies along with two other people at Drake Ave. and Donahue St. in Marin City. Police said Jackson and a female passenger were both identified by store officials as suspects.

The first incident occurred at around 1:15 p.m. Monday when employees from the Safeway in Corte Madera reported the theft of groceries with the suspects leaving in a brown Toyota Camry. A witness told Twin Cities Police that the vehicle was seen heading eastbound on Tamalpais Dr. towards Hwy. 101.

Sheriff’s deputies located the suspects in Marin City and Mil Valley Police went to the scene to make the arrest. The woman and another occupant of the car were both identified and released, police said.
