MVPD Detective Honored at The Redwoods' Celebration of Service Awards

The following is a news release from the City of Mill Valley:

Mill Valley Police Detective David Kollerer was among the honorees at The Redwoods' 22nd annual Celebration of Service Awards ceremony on April 25.

Kollerer, a 29-year-old resident of Petaluma, garnered the event's Public Safety Officer Award, primarily for both his work in addressing crimes related to children (including his close working relationship with the schools and his ability to effectively communicate with children), as well as his success in investigating elder abuse fraud, particularly by a number of private caretakers in 2012 and 2013 and the arrest of an employee at the Marin Terrace assisted living facility on Miller Avenue.

"It's a great honor - there have been a lot of other great people who have received the Public Safety Officer Award, and I'm grateful to be among them," Kollerer said. "It's also nice to be recognized for the work that we do at the department. I take this as more of a recognition of our department as a whole rather than just myself."

Kollerer was joined by a host of Mill Valley youth, teachers and volunteers as Celebration of Service Award winner.

"The Redwoods is part of the fabric of the Mill Valley," The Redwoods CEO Barbara Solomon said. "We hold this event to give back to the community that has supported us for over 40 years. It is great way to publicly thank members of the broader community for the extraordinary services they perform and the difference they make in the lives of others - not only at The Redwoods, but throughout the community."
