Mill Valley Police Help Nab Teen Car Theft Suspect
Less than four hours after a Greenbae resident reported that her son had stolen her car from the Bon Air shopping center, police spot the car on Camino Alto.
A 16-year-old Greenbrae resident stole his mom’s car from in front of the Mollie Stone’s store in Greenbrae last Saturday evening, only to be caught by Mill Valley Police less then four hours later, law enforcement officials said.
Central Marin Police responded to the Bon Air shopping center at 4 p.m. on a report of a stolen vehicle, according to Central Marin Police Cpl. Sethi Jervan. Police took a report from the woman who said her son stole her car.
At 7:36 p.m., Mill Valley Police Cpl. Shaun McCracken spotted the suspect vehicle, which had three male teens inside, on Azalea Dr. at Camino Alto in Mill Valley, and followed the car north on Camino Alto, eventually pulling the car over in the parking lot of the Lucky Supermarket at 570 Magnolia Ave. in Larkspur, Jervan said.

Central Marin Police arrived on the scene soon after and arrested the teen driver on suspicion of car theft, driving without a license and providing a false identity to a police officer, Jervan said. He was booked into Marin County Juvenile Hall.
The two other teens in the car were not involved in the theft and were not aware that the car had been taken without the owner’s permission, Jervan said.
