Mill Valley PD Will Participate in DUI Checkpoints This Friday
As part of a countywide strike-down on driving under the influence, Mill Valley will join many other Marin agencies in DUI checkpoints August 30.
Mill Valley Police Department will be participating in a countywide DUI checkpoint this Friday, August 30 between the hours of 6PM-2AM.
As part of the AVOID-13 grant funded DUI Task Force, officers will deploy a stop to arrest alcohol and drug-impaired drivers. Exact locations of the stops have not been disclosed, only that they will be set-up throughout the county in areas with frequently recorded DUI collisions and/or arrests.
According to a Mill Valley PD press release, DUI’s led to 774 California deaths in 2010 and 2011. DUI can impact the economy in addition to the pain and suffering caused to those immediately affected, reporting a conservative figure of $1.4 million per fatality, $70,000 per crash and an average property damage of $9,000.
