Mill Valley Driver Hits, Injures Cyclist

Car drifted as it headed on to northbound 101 from Tiburon Blvd. sending bicyclist to the ground and then to Marin General Hospital with injuries.

A Mill Valley driver heading toward northbound Hwy. 101 from Tiburon Blvd. struck a bicyclist Thursday afternoon, sending the man to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At around 4:05 p.m., 70-year-old Mill Valley resident Jean Gustafson was driving east out of Mill Valley on Tiburon Blvd, CHP Officer Chris Rardin said. As she approached the northbound Hwy. 101 on-ramp, Gustafson’s car drifted right, striking the bicyclist, 52-year-old Ramon Ponce of San Francisco, Rardin said.

The collision sent Ponce careening off his bike and onto the ground, causing moderate injuries on his left side, Rardin said. Ponce was taken to Marin General Hospital by Southern Marin Fire paramedics and treated there for his injuries.
